Friday Five: The one in which I talk Geek.

Jul 6, 2007 Author: Anna | Filed under: Anna, Babbling, Friday Five, Gaming, Geek, Meme, WOW

It’s been far too long since I’ve done a meme. I never do the actual Friday Five on the week it comes out it seems, I look through them and pick one that I feel like answering.

In this one, I firmly secure my geek title. You know, in case you all forgot.

1. What is your favorite board game?
For a big group (SEE: drunk people) I like Taboo. It can be really funny what people will blurt out while drunk. TeeHee My family used to play this game a lot (only, not drunk) and we used to laugh so hard I’d be sore the next day.

For the three of us, Monopoly. Although, Cassidy pretty much kicks my ass at every board game we play (excpet Operation :D) so I stopped playing games with her after she completely ANNIALATED me at the Game of Life. Three times.

I’m a sore loser. Especially when it’s to a (then) 7 year old.

2. What is your favorite card game?
Uno. HA! I’m so lame. After that Jin then Poker.

3. Do you like to play games on the computer or on a gaming system?
PC > Console

*ducks*

4. If so, what is your favorite game to play?
I supposed I should say World of Warcraft since I’ve been pretty much filling every second of free time with it for the last two weeks (Cassidy has been out of town, I’m bored!)… BUT! I’m a big Old School FPS geek. I love me some UnrealTouornament, Quake, Splinter Cell, Tribes, etc.

5. Do you like to play games with people or to play them alone?
I like both but I hate having to depend on random people to play. That’s a big problem when trying to play something like Tribes where you HAVE to team up. I don’t so much mind in Counter Strike becuase you usually LAN or end up teaming up with people you know which isn’t so bad. We used to LAN Counter Strike in the same house but teams would be in seperate rooms so you couldn’t hear stratagy talk. God, I was a geek.

In games like WOW, I just wait for Ben to outlevel me by enough that if I need help, he can come in and wipe out all the baddies while I run around and collect money and loot. It MAY seem like I’m using him but this is a guy I used to follow around in City of Heroes JUST to heal. Not many people have their own personal healer. So I think it balances out somehow. :)

Five Things…

1. Name five things in your refrigerator.
Milk, eggs, jelly, lettuce, ham.

2. Name five things in your freezer.
Ice, ice cream, ice, ice trays, ice.

3. Name five things under your kitchen sink.
Plastic bags, Windex, bucket, recyclable stuff, dishwasher detergent.

4. Name five things around your computer.
Bundle of CR-RW’s, headphones, pen, bills, water bottle.

5. Name five things in your medicine cabinet.
Vitamins, thermometer, aspirin, bandaids, face cream.

Sports

1. Do you watch sports? If so, which ones?
Not really. I’m don’t mind watching them but I rarely choose to watch them. Unless you consider racing a sport because I never miss a NASCAR race and I usually try to catch Drag Racing on Sundays.

2. What/who are your favorite sports teams and/or favorite athletes?
Well, if you continue with the racing theme I’d have to say John Force for drag racing, Tony Stewart for NASCAR and Boris Said for the twisties. ;)

3. Are there any sports you hate?
Ummmmm, golf. Boring to watch. Okay to play with a few good friends and some drinks. But even then I lose interest quickly unless I get to drive the cart.

4. Have you ever been to a sports event?
Yes, I’ve been to a few baseball games… A few Dodgers games and a Pirates game. I’ve watched a lot of the Bakersfield hockey team play when my best friend in high school had season passes. I’d have to say that the hockey games were my favorites.

5. Do/did you play any sports (in school or other)? How long did you play?
Between 4th grade and graduating high school I played volleyball, basketball, soccer, and ran track and cross country.

Meme

I really need to remember to do this more often.

1. Is the name you have now the same name that’s on your birth certificate? If not, what’s changed?
The name that I am using now is the one on my birth certificate. For a short time I had another last name but that part of my life is over now.

2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be?
I wouldn’t change anything about my name. It was given to me by my parents and I think that’s reason enough to keep it!

3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?)
I’ve never really asked. I guess I should do that this weekend.

4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why?
ummmm I don’t really hate any. I’ve been called Annie, AnnaBanana.. But that was mostly growing up. I never really hated any of them.

5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com / triggur.org / astroexpert accurate? How or how isn’t it?
Per kabalarians.com:

Your first name of Anna has given you a quick-minded, sensitive nature.
Very true.

It gives you a creative ability in art, music, singing, or fancywork and an appreciation for refined surroundings.
The first part is a lie. I have absolutely no artistic ability whatsoever. The appreciation for refined surroundings is right on though.

Your sociable nature expresses affection, kindness, and thoughtfulness to the extent that it is difficult for you not to be affected by others and governed by your emotions, rather than by logic and reason.
Ummmm, no. I’ve rarely, if ever, heard the words ‘kindness or thoughtfulness’ used to describe my ’sociable nature’. I come across as a pretty harsh person. I am however led by my emotions rather than logic and reason about 98% of the time.

As you respond to love and encouragement from others, your romantic and dreamy nature can easily lead you into love affairs.
Ummm… I don’t think this describes me. Maybe at one point in my life, but not now.

Your desire for peace at any price can result in going out of your way to avoid arguments and confrontation or hurting the feelings of others.
This has gotten true as I’ve gotten older. Two years ago I didn’t care who you were, I was going to tell you exactly what I thought about you. In the recent past I’ve started to learn that my words can greatly effect anothers feelings and I’ve started to be better about biting my tongue. I’d even go so far as to say that I do avoid arguements so I don’t have to deal with the consiquences of my words hurting somebody else.

Also, budgeting can be a problem as you enjoy spending money and can easily ignore being practical.
DING DING DING DING DING! We have a winner!!!

It’s hard for me to take this at face value because I could have put in the name Beth, Sue or Amanda and picked out a few qualities that I do have and don’t have. I really don’t think that this is a fair way to judge a person’t character. But whatever, maybe you learned a little something about me. heh

BIO
Hello! Welcome to aflux.net! My name is Anna and I am NOT the internet. I have a fabulous husband, a silly daughter, two cats and 14 personalities. I'm a loud mouthed, outspoken, opinionated pain in the ass but I swear I make up for it by being cute and cuddly. I like pie. I'm on pretty much every single social network out there so rather than go on and on about myself, go joing them, add me, and join the circus in my head. I promise I won't bite too hard and if nothing else, I'm fun to laugh at when you're feeling down.
