*insert witty tagline here*
My interview today went very well. I have high hopes. I was SO nervous on the way there but as soon as I started talking to the gentleman I realized that I’m a very smart and a very valuable worker!! They are smart to want to have me on board!!! WOOHOO!
The tooth is still in the mouth. Dangit. I know if she’d let me get one good yank the sucker would come out because it is just HANGING THERE TEASING ME. I’m a little excited to be the tooth fairy. Maybe I’ll have the tooth dipped in gold and keep it in my jewelry box forever.
Okay, off to bed with me. Going on a little drive with Ben tomorrow. There’s a new BMW shop opening up somewhere around here and it’s an excuse for the guys to all get together. ![]()

I hate to say that Cassidy is the cutest little girl on the face of this Earth so I won’t. Cassidy is the cutest little girl in the UNIVERSE!!
Ben and I took her to get her hair cut today. At first she REALLY was NOT seeming into it at all. She had the most heart broken look on her face during the cut. When we walked out of the hair place, a random lady walking by with two little girls (also with short hair) must have seen that her hair was wet and said, ‘I LOVE your hair! It’s VERY cute.’
Cassidy’s eyes lit up and she got the biggest smile on her face and her mood did a total 180. Suddenly she was hyper and swinging her hair all around like she was on a Pantene photo shoot. It has, in one day, given her a huge boost of confidence and self esteem. I can’t even believe what a difference a simple haircut that she DIDN’T want has made.
And now for the actual photoshoot pictures:
She insisted on a ‘Sleeping Beauty’ shot:
Cassidy seems to be much better tonight. Ben said that she slept a lot today. She has a VERY small fever (about 99). I think that she should be fine for school tomorrow. Right now she’s asleep in the fort we built in the living room. It’s her new favorite place to sleep.
Things like last night remind me how special life is. I know that seems extreme but even if for 1/1000th of a second you have the horrible feeling that something is really wrong with you child, you realize how little things like giggles and smiles and whispy hair and reading silly books and singing silly songs in the car… Well, you realize how simply uncomplete and boring your life would be without it.
I hugged her a little tighter tonight…
So we ended up at the Emergency Room last night at 10:45 with Cassidy having a temperature of 102.6. I was really scared by that. 45 minutes after we got there and WELL over and hour after Tylenol AND Advil, it had only gone down to 101.5. We finally saw the doctor around 2:00am. There is no sign of infection (a few kids from her school had to go home with Strep Throat), not too much puss, her nodes were not that big. They think she just has a virus but they cultured her throat so by tomorrow we should know for sure.
She’s asleep right now but does not feel THAT warm to me. She has a slight fever I think but nothing to wake her up over.
Ben is going to stay home with her today because I have to work from 9:30 to 6:00. He pretty much was my glue and my rock last night. When I realized she was that warm, she had started coughing which was causing her some pretty severe pain. Breathing out would make her cough, cough would cause her pain… so she was holding her breath for 10-15 seconds at a time and it seemed like she could not breathe. As a parent, that tends to really freak you out.
Ben calmly said, put her in the bath and we’ll take her to the Emergency Room. So I did, and we did and I can’t express enough how much it meant to me last night or how much it means to me today that he is willing and going to take care of her.
Thank you, Ben…
Cassidy came home from school talking funny. Now she’s in bed coughing this nasty dry cough. She woke up a little while ago with a fever and everytime she cough’s she’s in pain.
I gave her some Advil, she won’t let me spray Chloriseptic (SP) in her throat even though I offered to do it first to show her it would not hurt. I told her that she needs to drink a lot of water. I have a feeling it’s going to be a long night… ![]()
Cassidy had her first homework assignment tonight. It took us an hour to finish it. She had to write the letter ‘B b’ three times and color and cut out all the pictures on a page that started with the letter B and glue them to another page.
It’s funny how she kept getting the letter H and the letter B mixed up. We take for granted as adults this knowledge that is so challenging to a 5 year old. I’m going to try and find her some flash cards to help her learn the letters better.
So, from now on we will have homework every Monday and Wednesday night. I’m excited and a little put off at the same time. Hopefully she will get a better hang of it and it will start to go a little faster.
Cassidy had to have 5 immunizations shots today and a TB test. Poor thing.. She did okay till about shot three when she started to whimper, shot four she started to cry and by shot five she was REALLY upset. It took about 30 seconds total to get them all done. I have to give credit to the nurse, she got it done quickly.
Now she’s out on the couch sleeping. She has a bit of a fever which the nurse said to expect because of the Chicken Pox vaccination.
