Tied in knots!

By Anna  //  Babbling  //  3 Comments

Cassidy can tie her shoes herself now. It’s slow going but I know that if I blink tomorrow she’ll be doing it at lightening speed… because that’s how time seems to go when you have a child.

The baby is born… then you blink and they are walking. Then you blink and they are talking. Then you blink and they are tying their shoe’s. Then you blink and they want you to drop them off a block away from school. Then you blink and they want you to extend their curfew to midnight so they can hang out with the a smelly, long haired boy that you CLEARLY heard cuss the other day. Then you blink and they are moving out… then before you know it, you blink and they are tying YOUR shoe’s for you because you are all old and senile and you can’t do it yourself. And then…

Anyway, she’s getting too big to fast. *I* want to tie her shoe’s. *I* want her to have to ask for help because I’m the damn MOMMY!

Our psychologist would probably be looking at me right now ready to tell me to let her grow up. Damn them and their stupid degrees!! And damn him for making me relate to my mother!!

PTA

By Anna  //  Babbling  //  2 Comments

After the long treck to pick up Cassidy at the half way point and then taking her to see a doctor as soon as we got into town becuase her father could not differentiate between a yiest infection and a BUG BITE (Cassidy has the latter of the two I found out after worring THE WHOLE WAY HOME that she had the first) we finally pulled into home aorund 8pm.

When we walked in the door, Taco Bell in hand, I just wanted to vedge on the couch for the rest of the night but of course had way too much to attent to since The Princess was now back in the kingdom.

The first thing we did was listen to the the answering machine. Out of the blue, the treasurer of the PTA* (which is aparently a HIGHLY esteemed PTA position) called to ask if I could help out at the science lab the next day. It’s Ocean Week at Cassidy’s school and I’ve REALLY been meaning to become more involved with the school activities to meet more parents. So, when she asked me if I could help I said, ‘Of course, I’d love to.’ To which she responded, ‘Well, aren’t you a LOVE!!!’ It was then that I started to realize that maybe I should have thought this through just a little better.

So, this morning between 8:30 and 1:00 I was told every ounce of school/PTA gossip any one person that’s a part of the Montague PTA could ever dream of knowing. In between gossip bouts, I got to help the kids (3 classes at a time starting with Kindergarden and going up every session) make cute little sea life pictures using sand, glue and paper plates… Make sea star’s with Cherrio sucker feet… And fish ink impressions.

Helping the kids was an absolute blast. I had forgotten how creative the little guys can be. And the look on Cassidy’s face as she walked into the cafateria and told EVERYBODY WHO WOULD LISTEN, ‘There’s my mom!! HI, MOM!!’ was a far greater feeling than I could have imagined.

The *FEEL the IMPROTANCE of her title* treasurer *did you feel it?* told me that 95% of the PTA parents are parents of 5th graders and unless some parents of younger children get involved, there will not BE a PTA next year. I don’t think I could even impress upon you the absolute horror on her face as she told me this. She then went on to tell me what an fabuluos PTA secretary that she thought I’d make. Ummm, Hi. You met me 30 minutes ago. Let me dip my toe in the PTA pool before you FULLY SUBMERGE ME IN THE WATER DROWNING ME IN THE GUILT!

The bad part, I’m considering it. It *will* give me the opportunity to meet more parents and get to be involved in Cassidy’s school more which I really want to do. I just don’t know that I can deal with the drama, PTA drama no less. And let me tell you, there seems to be no lack of it!! I dunno, I guess I should sleep on it a few nights and see how I feel. I’m already planning on going next monday to help set up for Teacher Appreciation Day so if I can manage to make it through that okay, I might give it a go.

On an off note, I wish I had a camera to take the picture of PTA Treasurer when one of the little girls caught a glimpse of my tattoo and I suddenly became the coolest things since SLICED BREAD! hahah I’m evil.

*Known as this point forward as ‘PTA Treasurer’, as not to incriminate myself. Heaven forbid, she find my blog!!

Troy (The Epic, not the Idiot)

By Anna  //  Babbling  //  No Comments

We went to see Troy last night and I went in really not expecting a lot out of it. It hasn’t been getting the GREATEST reviews, and being a HUGE Greek mythology buff, I was expecting to be dissappointed. I was surprisingly delighted with it.

I really think the hype behind Brad Pitt being the star of this movie was WAY opver-rated as Eric Bana TOTALLY stole the show as Hector. He did a VERY good job acting and making me BELIEVE in him and what he was fighting for. Much more so than Brad Pitt did.

The story line, for the most part, generally followed what I remember reading. There were some and at least one major changes made but they were done for the sake of the movie and not THAT imposing on the story. Idon’t want to mention them here because I know that a lot of you have probably not seen it yet as this is the opening weekend.

Major dissapointment… Orlando Bloom. I really thought that he was a good looking guy in TLotR trilogy. I was excited to get to see him in another movie. Then I realized, without the pointy ears and the long blond hair, he’s really rather palin looking. *See’s the wierdness in the last statement* I’m not saying I love elves, or that I’m into poiny ears… Oh, who am I kidding.

Anyway, ya’ll should go see it!!

Sunning

By Anna  //  Babbling  //  No Comments

Ben and I got up and met Sil and Kong for breakfast then headed over to a shop that Alex was at with a bunch of Porsche’s. Very pretty cars.

After that we came home and lounged at the pool some and did a little swimming. It is SO beautiful out today. Sunny with a nice cool breeze. I never knew weather could be this nice in MAY!

In a bit we are gonna go hang out at the Great Mall (hopefully) and look for some shorts for me and then catch a movie.

I love lazy days like this!!

The Granny

By Anna  //  Babbling  //  No Comments

As much oil as The Granny is leaking and as many miles as the poor thing has, she still manages to get me over 120 miles in 1.5 hours. :) Maybe the new deck made her happy and put some spunk back into her!!

*knocks on the nearest piece of wood with all the ferocity her poor, sore body can handle*

Speaking of my poor, sore body… Ben and I have been hitting the gym again. We went three days in a row and yesterday even though I knew that I should give my body a break, I jogged. Now my left calf muscle hurts so bad that I limp when I walk. We didn’t go today. Tomorrow I’ll just do some upper body weights and hope that my leg starts to feel better by Sunday!

Well… off to take the happy drug, something to kill the pain in my leg, and then crawl into bed next to The Benjamin and cuddle.
