Fractured.

Temporary Splint

Cassidy was walking Nathans bike back to his house yesterday and fell down. Walking the bike, not RIDING it. She fell down. While WALKING the bike. *slaps forehead*

She didn’t tell me about it till almost 9PM so I iced it and gave her some Tylenol for the pain. Today when I picked her up from being with the ffej’s it was still REALLY swollen and bruised so I figured I better at least get it checked out at Urgent Care. The doctor looked at it for all of 5 seconds before she looked at me and said, “We’re going to need an X-ray”. She was a fantastic doctor. Had Cassidy and I cracking up the entire time.

So, we X-rayed. After they took three shots of her thumb, the X-ray tech had us wait there so she could check to make sure they were clear before taking us back to our room. When she came back in the first thing she said was, “How did she do that?” I wanted to slap her. I’m a MOTHER YOU IDIOT. You can’t IMPLY things like that because then I start to freak out and you DO NOT WANT ME TO FREAK OUT IN HERE TRUST ME I AM THE FREAK OUT KIND OF MOM! I think my facial expression said it all and she very quietly showed us back to our room.

The conclusion from Funny Doctor is that her thumb is fractured close to a spot where the bones fuse. Because thumbs are very very very important and you need them to do things (like cartwheels Cassidy says) it’s very very very important that they heal properly. So it’s splinted for now till the swelling goes down. We have to go see an orthopedist in three days and he/she will put a real cast on it. The nurse hinted about hot pink casts and Cassidy’s eyes lit up like roman candles.

For the first hour all she could talk about was her soon to be pink cast. She’s TOTALLY going to have a pink cast and she was TOTALLY telling anybody that looked in her general direction. After about an hour that wore off. About the same time she realized that she can’t color, she can’t cartwheel, or ride a bike, or scooter, or rollerblade, or swim, or go miniature golfing, or EAT PIZZA, or… the list went on and on and on and on. Like, suddenly, because one half of one arm had a temporary cast on it that she was JUST GOING TO DIE OF BOREDOM.

She was funny while there though…

“Mom, take a picture of my thumbs!” “Mom, take a picture while I have an X-Ray.” “Mom, take a picture of me with the ice pack.” “Mom, take a picture of the lungs over there.” “Mom, take a picture of me sitting here reading a magazine being TOTALLY BORED OUT OF MY MIND.”

Finally I told her, “I’m going to take a picture of you while you are completely quiet and reading a magazine and not talking till the doctor comes back into the room!”

She didn’t think that was as funny as I did. *shrug*

I got 46 out of 50 before I had to cheat. Two were very regional. If you are on the West Coast with me you probably won’t get it. Anyway, it was fun. I should apologize for my total lack of blogging lately but I’m not going to because I’m not an “I’m sorry” kind of person. I’m more of a “meh” kinda girl. So, meh.

We are all well. Hans is tEh cute. KC is starting to warm up to him. She still hisses and acts all Queen Of The House-ish but it’s more playful now. She and Hans hunt each other. It’s funny. Especially when one is hunting and doesn’t realize the other one was already on the trail and they suddenly realize that OMG THAT CAT IS TRYING TO KILL ME. Funny in a shake the pictures off the walls kinda way.

Hope you all had a good 4th. Ours was very laid back. Had a few friends over, watched Germany get beat, watched a movie, ate lots of yummy food. Later that night we watched some fireworks for a few minutes from out bedroom window upstairs then realized that the show on about fireworks all over the work was much prettier, being in uberhighdef and all.

The rest of the weekend looks promising. But first I have to get rid of this headache. I think I’ll go try and hunt up some chocolate and do just that.

Hives: Day 74

Skin test.

Turns out I’m allergic to wheat. This might not even be what’s causing the hives but the only way to really find out is to cut wheat out of my diet, totally, for three weeks. Then I can reintroduce it and see if there’s a reaction. Reading through some websites quickly when I got home, this could explain A LOT. The tummy problems, tired rundown feeling at completely random times, hives…

So I’m gonna start Sunday with the wheat free diet. I had NO IDEA there was wheat in so may food products. It’s in EVERYTHING. It’s basically an Atkins diet. I’ve NEVER been fond of the Atkins diet because I like my heart and I don’t want it to kill me at 50. Skinny but dead doesn’t seem like a wonderful alternative to a tad chubby and alive to me.

Why Sunday, you ask? Because Saturday we are going to Tyrolean Inn and I HAVE to eat the yummy food

This week at work has been long and hard. The Boss is out of town so covering for him, helping another team catch up with work they are behind on, having do deal with co-workers who have the work ethic of a retarded monkey and the fact that one of my FAVORITE co-workers last day is tomorrow has made me REALLY want for Friday to just. get. here. already. It really sucks that I can’t post work related stuff here because man, the comic relief…

Anyway, I’m exhausted so I’m off to give Ben puppy dog eye’s to 1) Convince him to come crawl into bed with me, 2) Let me have a kitten PRETTY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY ON TOP?!?

Three Day Weekend.

Superstar

Friday Cassidy received her classes Superstar Award. She’s been DYING to get this award all year and about two months ago her teacher told her that if she turned in ALL of her homework and improved in math that she would get it. On Monday of last week I asked if she had gotten it and she said that another student had gotten it instead. I was heartbroken for her because her face fell and she was almost in tears when she told me. And a little pissed off at the same time since she HAD turned in all her homework and HAD improved in math so I told her that I’d go in Wednesday to talk to the teacher to see what was up. Before I could even turn my car off after school on Wednesday she came running up screaming I GOT SUPERSTAR I GOT SUPERSTAR I GOT SUPERSTAR. When she got in the car I gave her a big hug and told her how proud I was of her and she read me the letter telling me what time to be there Friday because the parents get to help present the award. She started crying when she read it to me. This award meant THAT MUCH to her.

So my Friday started a off nice and a little early because I left work early to make sure I was there for the award ceremony. They even gave her one of those horrid “My Child is a SUPERSTAR” bumper stickers. We taped it to the inside of the back window of my car. As proud of her as I am, I’m NOT about to stick a bumper sticker on My Precious. heh

Mr & Mrs Graduate.

(Aside - I owe a GIGANTIC ENORMOUS HUGE thank you to Ben for being so understanding about me ditching out on his track day Friday @ Buttonwillow so last second. I really wanted to be there and I PROMISE that I’ll make it up to you. *devilish grin*)

Saturday we went to Chris’s Graduation Fest. All the NorCalBMW crew was there so, of course, it was a fantastic time. I love getting to hang out with my NorCal family. And I REALLY love Jello Shots. A lot. :D The kids had a blast, too.

Sunday I was supposed to go out with the NorCal crew to celebrate Jason’s 21st birthday. But I got a raging sinus headache that started late Saturday evening and lasted pretty much till early Monday morning. So much so that I spent most of Sunday in a Benadryl induced coma. Ben planned a really fun evening for him though. Dinner at Gordon Biersch Brewery, Tracy Morgan at The San Jose Improv, then pool at 1st Street Billiards. He seemed to have a really good time. Well, when they stumbled in the door at midnight they were STILL having a really good time. ;) I really wish that I could have gone but I felt SO BAD. I’m sure that I’ll have plenty more chances to out drink him though so… :P

Cassidy plants.

Monday I felt SO much better and after having been stuck inside the entire day before I decided to get out in the fresh air a bit so Cassidy and I spent most of the day digging out grape vines and planting and transplanting and making the yards pretty. We planted the Bougainvillea and also got some fun stuff to plant. Tomato’s, green peppers, green beans and strawberries. She’s SO INTO planting and growing right now. Every day after homework we walk around the house and check on all our plants to see how they are doing. We might have to transplant my Mother’s Day gerber daisy. I think it’s getting too much water and not enough sun where it is. I’ll probably stick it in a pot and put in on the back patio.

SO! That was my weekend. Oh yeah, we topped it off last night by going to my new obsession, Aqui. The food there is SO good. Fresh and healthy (Ben had free range turkey meatloaf casserole which had big chunks of vegetarian tamale mixed into a yummy tomato sauce) and JUST SO GOOD.

Butt Cam

Butt cam.

As Ben and I were walking through the aisle at the fabric store, I turned suddenly and heard the SideKick2 cam click from my back pocket. I was hoping that Ben didn’t hear it because knowing how much he makes fun of me for taking SO MANY PICTIRES EVERY DAY WITH THE PICTURES ALL THE TIME that he’d have fun with it for sure… But he started laughing right away and said, “You have to blog that”.

I’ve had a bit of Blogger’s Block. I’ve started at least half a dozen posts but the words don’t come out right and I start to ramble and get lost as paragraphs change direction and lead to nowhere. I’m sure it’s temporary. I really miss it, though. Feedback, creative expression, freedom. I dunno.

I hope everybody had a nice Mommy Day. We had breakfast at my favorite place with my mom then went shopping at MAC then came home and Cassidy and I planted. My dad sent me some seeds, plus I’d had some that I’d been wanting to plant, and Cassidy bought me a Gerber Daisy I wanted to get into the ground. Pretty soon the fence area in the front yard is going to be very colorful.

Hello! Welcome to aflux.net! My name is Anna and I am NOT the internet. I have a fabulous husband, a silly daughter, two cats and 14 personalities. I'm a loud mouthed, outspoken, opinionated pain in the ass but I swear I make up for it by being cute and cuddly. I like pie. I'm on pretty much every single social network out there so rather than go on and on about myself, go joing them, add me, and join the circus in my head. I promise I won't bite too hard and if nothing else, I'm fun to laugh at when you're feeling down.
